KNAUF Therm EXPERT FLOOR HEATING EPS 200 λ 33 is a board for thermal insulation of the floor in a water floor heating system. Thanks to its construction, the installation of heating cables is very simple and very fast. The plate is made of dense expanded polystyrene, which protects it from moisture absorption. Due to its universality, it can be used in residential and public buildings.

Floor heating
It is a low-temperature space heating system operating on the principle of surface heat radiation where 70% of heat energy is transmitted by radiation and 30% by convection. Underfloor heating provides a sense of thermal comfort, thanks to the even distribution of heat throughout the entire surface of the room and the favorable temperature distribution in the room.

The advantages of underfloor heating are:

  • the possibility of freely shaping the space of the heated room (no traditional heaters) 
  • increased thermal comfort due to reduced convection movements, increased air purity 
  • the possibility of reducing seasonal heat consumption compared to central radiator heating 
  • self-regulating property, consisting in the automatic change of the thermal power of the ducts as a result of a change in the internal temperature in the room.

Underfloor heating operation parameters
According to the requirements of DIN 4725, floor heating has a limited surface temperature. The optimum temperature is 24 - 26 C. Due to the feeling of thermal comfort, the floor temperature should not exceed:
24 C - in the area of permanent residence of residents (living and office rooms)
35 C - in the coastal area (at the outer walls of the building)
33 C - in bathrooms
27 C - in work rooms where you work standing up
Other output parameters for floor heating design should be:
55 C - permissible flow temperature
55 C - temperature difference between supply
0.1 - 0.6 m / s - water flow speed in the heating pipes
90% - efficiency of heat energy transfer through the heating system to the room

What is KNAUF Therm EXPERT FLOOR HEATING 200 λ 31?

When considering an underfloor heating system, large heat losses should be taken into account. This is the case with all types of installations. First of all, it is necessary to analyze very carefully and precisely what kind of materials to use so that the heat loss is as low as possible.

The best solution is therefore a foam board FLOOR HEATING 200 λ 31, which guarantees a very good heat factor of λD - 0.031 [W / m • K]. It turns out that even compared to foamed polystyrene boards with metallized foil, it is much more advantageous.
